About the Black Earth Film Festival

In 2007 the Black Earth Film Festival (or BEFF as we call it) celebrated its fourth and finest year. Great guests and great new venues helped make this BEFF the most diverse and interesting festival yet. And, as always, we learned a lot, so that when we move into our fifth year in 2008, we'll be even better.

The BEFF began with an idea a few years ago, an idea to enrich the quality and type of the visual arts available to the people of Galesburg, Knox County and western Illinois. The result was and is the Black Earth Film Festival, which strives to bring the finest in independent films of all varieties to our community at large.

Through cooperation with our online partner Without A Box, we have connected with filmmakers from all around the world and brought their visions, their art, to the people of the Midwest.

If you are interested in helping with the Fest, please contact us. We are always looking for new Committee Members and volunteer help. The only way the BEFF can continue to grow and improve is with the help of the community. We appreciate all of the support it has given us and look forward to even greater cooperation and success in the future.

The 2007 BEFF Committee Members were: David, Dechow, David Guiterrez, Mike Kroll, Tim Lawson, Paul Marasa, Bill Morris, Heather Norman and Joel Ward.
